Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The journal will publish video articles that result of original research work and discuss issues situated in the scope of the Social Sciences and Humanities;
  • It will be accepted submissions from Masters, Doctoral Students and Doctors; The paper should have a maximum of four authors, who assume the commitment to not submit this same research to other journals;
  • The author responsible for the submission commits to correctly and completely provide the coauthors' details. The content of the paper and the opinions expressed in it are the authors' sole responsibility;
  • The manuscript must be submitted without any identifying information of the authors. To learn how to remove hidden data and personal information in Microsoft Word files, click on the link;
  • In addition to the manuscript, the submission also includes a video. The audiovisual component will be evaluated by the VJSHR Editorial Board and may be sent back to the authors to make the necessary adjustments;
  • The submission will be checked for plagiarism and must follow the guidelines required by VJSHR. In case of non-compliance with the guidelines, the paper will be sent back to the authors for adjustment and a deadline to return. In the event of plagiarism, the paper will not be accepted for publication;
  • If the paper complies with the journal standards and the Editors-in-chief consider it potentially suitable for publication, it will be sent to the reviewers (double-blind review). After this step, the authors will be informed of the acceptance or rejection of the work;
  • The acceptance of the video article for publication implies the transfer of copyrights to VJSHR. This video journal is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.

Author Guidelines

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

TEXTUAL COMPONENT OF THE SUBMISSION:

The submitted text must be written in English, Portuguese or Spanish and should have between 3,000 and 6,000 words, including references. It must follow the American Psychological Association (APA) norms and be in Microsoft Word format; A4 paper size; with justified alignment; top and left margins of 3 cm, and bottom and right margins of 2 cm; 12 pt Arial font size; and 1.5 line spacing. Quotations over 40 words also follow the same spacing and font size. The identification of figures, tables and graphs should appear numbered at the top, and the source should only be indicated when the element was not created by the author of the text.

Quotations must be referenced, with the author's surname or the name of the institution that provided the information or the first words of the title (in case of publications without an author), followed by the year of publication. References must be listed at the end of the paper in alphabetical order, with a 1.25 cm indentation from the second line on, left alignment, and titles and subtitles in italics.

Submitted texts are expected to feature the following elements:

  1. Title in the language of the manuscript;
  1. Abstract in the language of the manuscript: should provide a synthesis of the key points without exceeding 200 words;
  1. Keywords in the language of the manuscript: it should be provided 3 to 6 keywords, which are not included in the title of the article;
  1. Title, abstract and keywords in English (if not the language of the manuscript) or Portuguese;
  1. Text;
  1. Acknowledgements (if relevant);
  1. References.

 

AUDIOVISUAL COMPONENT OF THE SUBMISSION:

All videos must be submitted at https://www.academy-on.com/submission/ and produced according to AcademyOn video and audio standards.

Video standards

- The resolution should be at least 1280x720 at 16:9 dimension, which can be larger but not smaller;

- Video formats .mov, .mp4, and .avi are accepted;

- It must be free of glitches, also free of distracting or erratic camera movement;

- Video of oral presentation must show only the moment of author’s presentation, not the moment of discussion;

- The video must completely fill the frame. No black borders should be visible;

- The video must have at least three seconds of silence at the beginning and the end of the vídeo;

- Video length depends on video type, but cannot exceed 40 minutes.

Audio standards 

- No voice should be more audible and understandable than the speaker’s voice;

- Background noise must be kept to a minimum and should not affect the understanding of the speaker;

- Quality and volume levels of the speaker’s voice should remain relatively consistent;

- The speaker’s voice should be free of distortions;

- No music should be added.

Texts, images and graphics

- Text, tables, images or graphics shown in the video should be legible and clear enough for the audience to visualize the content.

- Author must certify that text, tables, images and graphics shown in the slide frame are legally used according to copyrights.

- The video should begin with the title slide and close with the credit slide.

- Subtitles can be added; however, adding subtitles will not exempt the audio from quality standards.
