Abstract

The arrival of the 21st century has accelerated the positions presented by the irruption of digital social networks in our society. Today we can talk about our own digital identity that can be worked as such, or be the result of our activity on the network. Through the internet, with social networks and their adaptation to smartphones, young people are in constant contact and make this digital communication a feature of their existence and the most common way of managing their relationships. The characteristics of the most used social networks today, make the image, either fixed through photography or moving through video, constitute one of the pillars of social communication. Aware of this, many human resources companies have decided to include the analysis of digital identity through image as part of their selection process, with the profile photo being one of the elements most taken into consideration in said process. For this reason, we have carried out a study among 144 human resources companies in Spain where we seek to know to what extent it is important to take care of the image on social networks and what are the images that can help or cause a candidate to be discarded in the selection process.
